The baby house wrens are still chirping outside my window, the chirps are becoming louder and stronger. They will leave the nest soon.
Am getting my dad's memoirs ready to send to ND state historical society; I will also leave a copy with the Germans from Russia Heritage collection at NDSU in Fargo. I haven't decided yet what to do with the additions I made to his memoirs. Perhaps will just leave it for a family memoir. I am weary of writing about my family "of origin"; it was what is was.
Now I must run, get my car fixed, and send an email to all of you telling you this blog is open.
HOwdy. Posting my own comment----PKR
ReplyDeletePatsy - I agree you should leave the additions alone for now, but it might be interesting to return to them after a time to see if that ripens them.
ReplyDeleteRead your piece in MWP today. I love it and ma going to forward it to my dad. He documented all the graves in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Erin Prairie, WI and he was frustrated by any women who were only identified by their husbands' names.
I put a query in the mail last Monday (July 26) to American Profile Magazine (one of the few who won't accept electronic submissions) and got a phone call on Thursday (July 29) from the editor telling me he loved my pitch and wants me to write the story. I've written for him before, but not for a couple of years. The mag is backlogged but he said it will run early 2011. It's been awhile since I've sent anything out. Sure feels good to get a "yes" the first time out.
Congratulations, Mary.
ReplyDeleteThanks for submitting the first BWU comment.
What is your article about? Have you read it to us yet? American Profiles sounds like bios of people--I hope it includes "ordinary" people as well as famous ones. I will look it up---
Stay cool.
